OK I've made this one a bit harder!! So here it is ...

You must create a ONE page LO which includes:
*pastel shades
*hearts
*twill or sewing
*one photo
*your own homemade embellishment

and here's one I prepared earlier!

I must admit I am pretty busy so I thought I'd give you a challenge I had done a while ago!!
*use pastel shades - Little Yellow Bicycle 'Fresh Print Clothesline' papers
*hearts - Fiskars Scallop Heart Punch, punched from 'Fresh Print Clothesline' sticker flowers with buttons
*twill or sewing - Twill around the butterfly
*one photo
*making your own embellishment - made the butterfly, I used the outline of the outside of a butterfly sticker (with me?? clear as mud??) stuck it on some paper & cut it out. I then wound the twill around the butterfly and tied it in a knot with the ends looking like antenna.

So waiting in anticipation to see what you guys create!!

Challenge #61 - Recapturing Summer

Hello again!! Long Holiday we have had!! Things have been a bit crazy in all 3 of mine, Jennie and Kris's lives, so time to do this has really been thin! But I think I might need a bit extra to do so here I go!!

So what have we been up to???
Me ... as most of you are aware of my husbands death I have been caught up in the dramas of court etc to do with that, as well as trying to adjust to a one parent household and dealing with moving and the kids. Things have settled into a semi normal routine so I have more spare time on my hands, also especially since my baby girl has started Morning Kindergarten.

Jennie has been crazy busy renovating her house!! Very exciting! She is busy painting and sewing curtains as well as loads of other exciting stuff! As well as that she and I are on the Better Scrapbooking Design Team, so that is also keeping us on out toes for sure!

Kristine has just opened up her own Scrapbooking Store!! Yay!!! It's called Scrap-a-Bull and is looking awesome at the moment! So that has kept her busy for a while and will continue to do so!

So enough about us! Here is the first Challenge of 2011 ....

Since the weather is getting cooler I thought this would be a good theme to keep us thinking about sunshine a little bit longer!

Recapturing Summer

Single or double page LO which must include something to do with Summer. It could be Summer colours, a summer photo, a summer title, anything to do with summer.

This weeks challenge topic. I want to see layouts about the Darker Side of you or a family member! Now this could include anything from you in a Halloween costume to you and your bad habits! Just remember to keep it dark: dark colors and styles, lots of distressing, etc…And by darker side I mean the use of darker colors, subjects including Goth, Punk, emo plus others. Have fun and layout must be submitted by the 29th of August or earlier

The technique could involve paper folding or a new way of using a product or a new way of making flowers etc the choice is yours. The only catch is you have to find the technique on You Tube. Hey all Sandra and I would like to say a huge thanks to all of you who donated money, bought raffle tickets and bid on the auctions to raise money for Tracy. And an extra thank you to all the businesses who donated scrapbokng items to this great cause. We were astounded by the generostity and couldnt of done it without your support. All up we raised around $800 from the Feilding crop, and the raffle on here and the 4 auctions on Trade Me.
The Auckland and Christchurch crops and raffle organised by Nic and Danice raised over $800(im not sure if that was just the Auckland crop and raffle or Christchurch combined totat).
Update from Nic is that Chch and Auckland total will be more as there are still some auctions going. woohhhooooo scrapboookers rock

Wow 50 challenges almost completed. For this challenge you need to loook at what you are wearing and create a layout around what you have on. For example if you have layered your tops you can layer your paper, if you have a ribbed knitind top on you could use corregated card on your layout. use the colours you have on in your layout. If you have jewellery on use nthe shapes of it on your layout. If you have a diamond ring on use bling on your layout. Crops days in Chch and Feilding

Hey all, well the crops are all over and i am buggered along with Nic in Chch and Sandra who ran the Feilding one with me. Unfortunately when i set the crop date I did it on the same day that Jen Tracy and Myself were supposed to be in Turangi on a crop weekend and since we had cancelled the weekend we now had this date free, there was another scrap camp on just out of Palmerston North which i didnt know about on, so a lot of people had already committed to that. But we still had an awsome time with 13 great ladies. I would like to say a huge thanks to Sandra, her daughter Neen and Neens friend Hannah for their awsome effort and help in running the crop. I will put some photos up later as Im about to go to bed. There are still raffle tickets available and we have also added a 7th prize (will add picture of it tomorrow). The raffle will be drawn on Friday so get in quick. Cheers to all of you who have bought tickets so far its greatly appreciated.

Thats all I could say when the courier dropped off the big box of goodies that arrived from the United States. It was from the wonderful lead Fiskateer ladies Cheryl, Angela, Wendy Jo, Kelly Jo and Rebecca and awsome company Fiskars. Tracy and the fellow crop organisers belong to this fab scrapbooking and crafting site. We have been keeping up to date the ladies and other members of this site with the sad event that has taken place. Many of the site members mainly from America sent their condolances and also sent cards and donations for Auckland to raffle off. Fiskars sent over a huge box of items that we will be putting up for auction on Trade Me once we have finished the crops. Once again I would like to thank fiskateers and Fiskars for their generousity and support, it truely has been amazing

Create a single page layout using an old black and white photo or sepia photo, the layout has to be vintage to suit the era of the photo. you can use colour but has to be of the era of photo, so you may have to go and google designs of that time. eg 1940's they used the colours in the link below. It with much sorrow I share this news. Our good friend on TMMB Tracy has had her life turned upside down. Her husband has passed away after being attacked at work, this sudden loss of a great man has come as a huge shock to every one. TM Scrappers FIRST Tutorial

I am the slide show lady, and it's pretty exciting to be able to put all your guys photos together so everyone can see. A couple of challenges I have done some collages with your pics and I have noticed that many of you seem to have trouble getting a real good pic of your LOs. I decided that I would do a little tutorial on how to take the best photo of your LOs!

TAKING LAYOUT PHOTOS TUTORIAL

TIP #1 ... POSITION
The best place to take a photo of a LO is from above. Stand on a chair or lay it on the ground and stand above it. Try to get your page as close as possible to fill as much of the frame as you can so there is little background mess as possible.

The photo on the left, I laid on the ground and stood above it, the photo on the right I put on the table and stood next to it.

TIP #2 ... LIGHTING
First thing is finding the perfect lighting. I prefer to take my photos outside in the sun. This is the BEST place to do it in my opinion. Make sure you stand where you are leaving no shadow on your LO. There are times when you won't beable to go out in the sun! So the best lit room in your house with all the lights on, even if it is in the daytime! Again try and position yourself so there is no, or little shadow on the LO, it is a bit trickier inside than outside.

The photo on the right I took inside. The flash on my camera went off and has made the pic too bright. The photo on the left I took outside, the embellishments on the photo are clear and easier to see.

TIP #3 ... CAMERA
Get to know your camera. Play with the settings. Its amazing what a difference different settings makes when you take a photo in the excact same position

The pic on the right was on auto setting .. the pic on the left I changed the setting ... BIG difference!

TIP #4 ... EDITING
I always edit my pics. I have the programme Picassa, it's free to download and it does everything I need it to. Photoshop and any other photo programme is awesome too!
...CROPPING... The first thing I do with my photos is crop them. Cut off the bits that you don't need!
...ADJUST COLOUR... I like to adjust the lighting and usually use the auto adjust feature in Picassa. There is also a fill light which I sometimes use if the photo is a bit dark.

It is kinda obvious which is edited and which isn't! All I did in Picassa was crop the photo then clicked on the 'I'm Feeling Lucky' button and then used the 'Auto Colour' and Hey Presto!! A completely different look!

TIP #5 ... TRADE ME
Uploading to TM we all know how to do, but to make your pic look a little better take off your TM name when you upload. I always forget to do this! But it does look ugly at the bottom of the pic!!

The new one can use the old bits off the layout or totally new paper and embellshments, its up to you. sorry people of the delay in choosing a winner for challenge 12, ive been having a think about the challenges and the prizes, so from challenge 13 on a prize will be only be awarded at the end of each month. flowers, flowers flowers

Create a layout using only homemade flowers. They can be made out of paper, vellum, plastic, ribbon, fabric, lace, metal, felt etc, no bought ones. You can use punches, die cutting machines etc for the shapes. Not many of you may know me, I'm Tracy AKA jasoncmp, I have been rather quiet lately but it is time for me to start getting highly involved in these challenges again!!

I follow a Blog called Scrap Your Crap and they are all about using up the stash of stuff you have laying around(and I know all of you traditional scrappers have one) Digi scrapper just arrange this as you can to fit in with the digi side of things. Every time I write a challenge it is going to be a Scrap Your Crap Challenge! There is one major rule to these challenges

RULES ... Nothing can be newly purchased specially for these projects, you must only use what you already have!

OK here's the challenge ....

*A single page LO which must contain at least 6 eyelets*

Anyone who can put at least 15 eyelets on their page will be entered into the prize draw twice!

What Are Artist Trading Cards?

Artist Trading Cards are collectable cards that had its origin from sports-themed trading cards.
They are usually referred to by its abbreviation "ATC". The one rule for Artist Trading Cards is its dimensions: They must be 2.5"x3.5" in size, or 64x89mm and should be made of sturdy cardstock.

Artists all over the world make these art cards and trade them with one another at art conventions, craft fairs, online, etc.
All media and techniques can be used on the cards; rubber stamping, collage arts, fabrics or any other media.
